Comprehensive and unique training in the art of creating a puppet for stop-motion animation!
"The Art of Creating a Puppet" was a comprehensive and unique training in the art of creating a puppet for stop-motion animation, which took place in Łódź on August 19 - September 18, 2019.
The project aimed to familiarize the participants with the process of creating and with the techniques of making animation puppets. For a month, participants took part in lectures and practical workshops, during which a selected twelve learned about the step-by-step process of producing a puppet.
"The Art of Creating a Puppet" is an interdisciplinary and innovative project that combined the art of animated film with other areas of artistic creativity, especially sculpture.
Lectures and workshops were held at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź.

The project was the result of cooperation between several representatives of the Łódź animation industry: Likaon, Toto Studio, MOMAKIN, individual authors and the Stowarzyszenie Producentów Polskiej Animacji (SPPA). The idea of combined activities was created during the work on awarding Łódź the title of UNESCO City of Film.
The classes were conducted by outstanding artists:
- Marcin Zalewski – puppeteer, sculptor, prop maker, associated with the animation industry for over 10 years.
- Sylwia Nowak – co-creator of puppets and scenography for the production of animated puppet films made with the classic technique of stop-motion animation and puppet theater performances.
