The Mermaid, who lives in the Baltic Sea, begins her journey inland along the river. On her way, she meets catfish, crayfish and other river creatures, whom she befriends. Unfortunately, the Mermaid's new friends are in danger. Every day, fishermen from a nearby village cast their nets in the water. What will the Mermaid do and what price will she have to pay?
