The first film adaptation of the story by Hans Christian Andersen entitled “The Flax.”
This is a beautiful, poetic and extremely subtle film for children on the joy of learning about the world and yourself, about the difficult art of accepting life in all its manifestations. It is a metaphorical tale of flax that has grown, flourished and matured, was harvested and changed first into canvas, then into paper, and finally burned. It offers a philosophical message on transience.
